Born in El Paso, TX, Mike is the son of migrant farm workers and the oldest of fourteen children, eight brothers & sisters and another five children that his parents adopted or took in. His family traveled throughout the Southwest following the crop harvests before settling in the Phoenix, AZ area. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School before entering Arizona State University. After working for three and a half years as a DJ on KPHX radio in Phoenix, Mike met Jorge Rivero and Andres Garcia during a radio interview who invited him to try his hand at acting. Mike took a 30 day leave from the radio station…and he never looked back.
Mike began his acting career in Mexico, starring in over 25 film productions with the likes of Jorge Rivero, Andres Garcia, and Jorge Russek, among others.
It was on the production of Cattle Annie & Little Britches that Mike was advised by actor Rod Steiger to move to Hollywood, CA. As a result, Moroff has enjoyed a most prolific career in film and television with over 88 films and over 100 television shows always avoiding publicity.
Mike also met actor Ben Johnson while filming Cattle Annie & Little Britches. “Uncle Ben” was beginning to put together the Ben Johnson Pro-Celebrity Rodeos and Mike was anxious to do something for the kids. Uncle Ben asked Mike if he knew how to ride. Knowing Uncle Ben’s background as a World Champion Cowboy, Mike humbly replied, “Considering the source, No Sir.” He started to work on his horsemanship skills and learned to rope. He participated for a number of years in team roping and won thirteen buckles as a heeler.
